Proof of concept #2.4 released


The best investment is in the tools of one's own trade

Mouse support has been added to the world. It's better than I expected!  Navigation is actually pleasant. However the biggest change is that I'm defining a visual style for the game, and you can easily tell from the darker floor and changed sizes of interactables. For this release I wanted to add animations to interactables, but I'm in the middle of changing the tools I use for 2D animations. Still, I'm releasing because I didn't want to delay it any further. Player-visible changelist:

Gameplay

  • Added mouse input for the world : primary click is for movement, secondary click engulfs interactables, third click escapes the screen

Graphics

  • Added shine to hair in the scene
  • Darkened the floor for increased contrast
  • Improved object and plant sizes for better aesthetics
  • The sharp edges of visual elements are now softened
  • Plants show roots when taken from the floor

Menu

  • Added a message at the beginning to hint at the methods of input

Fixes

  • Fixed an error about the direction girls faced while moving
  • Girls now move away from dislikes properly
  • Fixed graphic glitch at image border due to scaling down when engulfing interactables
  • Fixed graphic glitch at image border due to positioning of interactables
  • Engulfed objects are now scaled proportionally

Known errors

  • The ghost will jitter a little when slowing down
